Abstract

We assume that social knowledge (skills) is a particular type of tacit knowledge. This type of knowledge is difficult to express by means of propositions and rules. On the other hand, narrative can be used for describing knowledge that cannot be quantified. The subject of this study is the exploration of the process of sharing tacit knowledge through narrative among students of the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. This study also considers narrative a research method since through storytelling we can explore the process of sharing tacit knowledge. In this sense, narration is therefore both a method of research, as well as a method of intervention. I stood before the question why students share their stories and what they share through them. They use them to express their attitude, the attitudes of others, sharing their opinion, their tacit knowledge and experience gained from dealing with real situations, and they make use of the most natural form – a story. Thus, it is important to be concerned with not only stories inspired by events immediately experienced by students, but also with any other stories which allow them to describe and share their values and reasons for specific reactions etc.
