Abstract

Lack of inclusion and diversity in the workplace affects a company’s competitiveness. Particularly LGBT+ employees report worse workplace experiences than their colleagues related to employee treatment, workplace fairness, and job satisfaction. On the contrary, companies that do promote diversity and inclusion tend to improve their levels of competitiveness, and are more productive and innovative. This article presents the results of a survey was carried out on a population of LGBT+ workers in three technology companies in western Mexico. The methodology analyses the relationship between openness and inclusion for LGBT workers. In conclusion, it is possible to identify that there is a relationship between the level of commitment of companies to managing the sexual diversity of their employees and the openness that they have within the organization about exercising their sexuality.
