Abstract

This paper examines the role Fogg’s Behavior Change Model (FBM) theory can play in the design strategy for motivating behavior change with the goal of creating micro changes in daily life. Students in a design practice program test the applicability of FBM through design projects that train users to adopt more environmentally friendly micro behaviors in their daily life. Four projects from the design practice program are highlighted to demonstrate that the use of FBM in order to improve behavioral change to promote sustainable life is feasible. The applications and benefits from the use of behavioral interventions, including the behavior change process and trigger design are described in the results section.
