Knowledge management has the potential to develop strategic advantage and enhance the performance of an organization in terms of productivity and business process efficiency. Hence, organizations are contributing significant resources to knowledge management; investing in information location and implementing knowledge management processes and systems. However, most of these processes and systems focus only on knowledge management and omit the critical element of change management. At times, knowledge management is implemented without consideration to business requirements or in conjunction with change strategies. Implementing knowledge management processes and systems can have significant positive or negative impact to business environment. In this paper, the results of other researchers, in the same area, are analyzed from both the theoretical and practical framework. Additionally, the authors identify and analyze critical success factors in implementing knowledge management portals and propose a model which incorporates both knowledge management and change management.
