Abstract

This paper follows the process of one student/professor team that traded in the theoretical process of publishing for a more hands on approach. When professors have students who show great potential, it’s common to direct them towards publishing. In a recent situation I had with a student, instead of leaving this at the level of suggestion and direction, we teamed up and took a step by step approach to publishing poetry: from writing prompts, to revisions, to submissions, and finally to dual publication. In fall 2006, both of our chapbooks of poetry were published by Pudding House Press. For accelerated students, this can be a significant stage in their academic career. It also adds to the professor’s publication records.
