Abstract

What is the scale of the human impact on Earth? In the past several years, there has been a prominent shift in how we conceptualize our relationship with the surrounding environment. The 11th International conference on The Constructed Environment focused on Building the Anthropocene in addition to the four key themes: the design of space and place, constructing the environment, environmental impacts, and social impacts. At its core, the Anthropocene recognizes the planet as a complete system. It invokes the notion that Anthropos (Greek for humans) have altered the fundamental ways in which the Earth functions.
