Abstract

The article seeks to identify, through empirical research, some critical dimensions of gender sensitivity at work place, and tries to analyze the influence of demographic factors on these dimensions. The study was conducted taking both male and female professionals working in some Banking and Airlines organisations in India. The critical dimensions have been isolated through a factor analysis and these are work-life balance, professional barriers, career development, gender sensitivity and gender discrimination. The results reveal that dual career couples face work life issues more strongly than others. Even if male professionals acknowledge the prevalence of gender discrimination and professional barriers at workplace, they are not very supportive of special gender sensitive measures wanted by female counterparts for their career development.
