Abstract

This study aims to observe the role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) intensity in achieving productivity driven growth in ASEAN5 (Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand) plus three (China, Japan and South Korea). The results show that the productivity growth of ASEAN5 plus China is input driven. In addition, the Japan productivity growth is productivity driven and South Korea is moving towards productivity driven when TFP intensity contribution were compared. The study as well finds that the impact of ICT intensity is constructive with modest contribution to TFP intensity growth. These results furthermore confirmed that capital deepening had a very significant role in achieving higher labour productivity contribution that created by most of these economies through using huge input to produce output.
