Abstract

Sharing information on the Internet is extremely easy. However, it is confusing to know what products you can use and which are restricted. As a knowledge worker and innovator, you may want to share ideas, products, and knowledge as a way to build on layers of knowledge and invoke innovative ideas, but not give all or your rights away. Sharing products and knowledge has usually meant that you provide content and products with no control (public domain) or that you restrict control of the distribution of your product and content by full copyright (all rights reserved). Creative Commons licenses provide options for you, as the creators of products and content, to choose to how you want to share and allow other uses of your content. Creative Commons licenses provide options between the extremes of public domain and all rights reserved.
