How do we Challenge the Students and Enrich their University ...
Abstract
Illustration and performance design may seem disparate disciplines, so how will illustrators react to the demands of working in 3D and how can performance designers integrate the demands of creating narrative structure into their practice and realising this through forms of story boarding? Engagement with communication through the use of story or script provides a meeting point for both groups so how can each gain from working with the others and enhance their own practice? For the Illustrators involved they will have the challenge of working on a 3d site specific format rather then the traditional white sheet of paper. For the performance designers the image will become an end in itself and they will have to devise the narrative rather than respond to it.
Both sets of students will be asked to step into the unknown and work away from their normal environment, enhancing their ability to communicate and collaborate with other creative practitioners and demonstrate the benefit of experimentation. We will be looking at how this collaboration can enrich the student’s own future practice and discipline.
