Abstract

In light of globalization, "new" threats have allowed for governance issues to be at the core of international relations and security studies. Contemporary security is a multifaceted concept inclusive of social, political, economic, and social determinants. As such, peace and governance are more interconnected than before. In the age of globalisation and with the increase of internal wars, "failed states," terrorism, individuals, and collectivities other than the state could and, indeed, should be the object of security. In this regard, it is critical to understand how security and governance have become prominent in IR studies and analyses and offer new forms/meanings for addressing present-day threats to international peace and security.
