Equipping MBA Graduates for the Workplace
Abstract
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is considered a contributing factor toward career advancement. However, organizations have raised concerns that graduates do not possess the vital abilities and employability skills required in the workplace. Using insights and outcomes from relevant previous and current studies on the benefits of the MBA, this study discusses the significance of the “MBA Program with Professional Practice” degree-structure toward successful learning experience for students, community engagement and collaborative practice between academic institutions and businesses. The “MBA Program with Professional Practice” will help to foster academic and organizational partnerships, as well as develop pragmatic and confident graduates who are ready to apply employability skills gained during the program in the workplace or the real world. This study argues that robust research is needed to uncover the practical implications of the “MBA Program with Professional Practice” to businesses and academic institutions alike. It presents the program as an innovative and growing initiative that will progress the opportunity to impact the real world in the upcoming decades, and subsequently produce graduates who can positively change organizations and the society.
