Abstract

Students’ experiences with modeling videos were examined in order to determine the benefits modeling videos in an online e-commerce course as an instructional tool. Undergraduate students at a mid-western university used the modeling videos throughout a semester in an online e-commerce course. Interviews were conducted, transcribed, and analyzed. The results suggest that the instructional modeling videos are beneficial in taking into account students’ cognitive, social, emotional, and attitudinally readiness, allowing students take notes effectively and efficiently, enabling students to re-watch and rewind for strengthening their memories and to use as a point of reference, providing just-in-time practice opportunities, demonstrating errors as learning opportunities, personalizing the lecture, and representing information in multiple ways.
