Abstract

Using an ethnographic approach, this paper seeks to explore the debate on tourism and ecotourism in the developing world and to examine the question of sustainability in ecotourism initiatives. Specific attention is paid to Cuba, particularly to the case study of Las Terrazas, a community that has been considered by the Cuban government to be one of the most significant initiatives in ecotourism on the island.
