Abstract

In an attempt to offer equal distance learning opportunities for blind people, a local learning management system (LMS) version for blind and other visually disabled people was developed following accessibility guidelines, and tested with automatic tools and blind users. Participants gave feedback on the accessibility of the LMS, and at the same time learned to use the LMS and the basics of online learning. The results of this study support the argument that blind users must be involved in the process for accessible design.
