Abstract

We developed a new practical instructional video for sustainable disaster management by means of experiments and practical use. In this study, we examined the importance of, concrete conditions for, and ways to learn about disaster management. The new instructional video on disaster management urged familiarity based on computer-animated characters and risk awareness based on footage of a real earthquake. Based on these experiments, we demonstrated that the video on “risk awareness” and “familiarity” had a positive impact on imagination, understanding, and eagerness to learn. The practical instructional video on sustainable disaster management must be practiced independently.
