Abstract

The samples testing laboratories handle a large amount of information about the services that they provide. In many cases, that information can be lost or distorted due to incorrect operation of data by researchers in the entities, that in some cases don’t have any information system (IS) to support the information management work. There are also laboratories that have facilities in different geographic locations, making more complicated the task of sharing information among employees, and in many instances, the result is the delay in the execution times of services. HSLAB is a laboratory information management system that was developed to efficiently manage information for the testing services of those entities, as well as to meet the need of sharing information among the researchers that are geographically distanced, using the concepts of the cloud computing business model. This article presents the methodology used to develop HSLAB, and the results of its use within the laboratories of the Universidad Industrial de Santander.
