Cinema for the Very Small Screen
Abstract
This article re-visits the fundamental elements of visual and audio message design for the screen media (film, television,video, photography) and examines the impact of adapting them for use in new technologies like cell phones, ipods, and blackberries. It extends the author’s previous work developing dialogic Drama for Conflict Transformation (DCT) into the mobile media industries, suggesting new types of mis-en-scene appropriate for Very Small Screen (VSS) Web-based delivery and suggests conceptual and practical production guidelines for cell phone filmmakers.
