Abstract

Children’s minimal text picture books reflect thinking in the fields of language development, beginning reading, and book illustration. They can also reflect current thinking in Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). This paper addresses the teaching of English Language Learners (ELLs) with children’s picture books. Connections are made between features of books and compatible CLT strategies.
