Abstract

This article articulates issues related to the Child Support Grant (CSG) as a poverty alleviation strategy and a controversy that the grant creates dependency and further encourages young people to have more children. Attention is drawn to the views of child support grant recipients/caregivers who strongly feel the grant does not alleviate poverty though it is greatly appreciated.
