Abstract

This paper will discuss the status of religion/spirituality in the work place and its effect on the quality of worklife. One of the reasons to consider recognizing employee spiritual or religious needs is the effect on the quality of work life based upon the idea that the whole person comes to work. Employees do not come to work and leave their family, problems, goals, religion, spirituality or personal expression behind. This paper will examine some of the solutions and problems with emphasis on solutions to improving the quality of work life. At the same time this paper will discuss an alternative to a legal approach or a faith based approach to one that is pragmatic to many organizational environments.
