Abstract

The Regional Municipality of York Region in Ontario, Canada has undergone tremendous growth in the past few years, with a significant change in demographics. An Inclusivity Action Plan (IAP) was developed to meet the changing needs of the community in this area. The goal of the IAP was to make York Region more ethno-culturally inclusive by working with service providers on three themes: Improving communication between service providers and users; increasing ethno-cultural awareness in the region; and promoting ethno-cultural representation in human service agencies. The York Region Inclusivity Action Plan team, in its efforts at continuous quality improvement, requested a program evaluation in order to advance service delivery in the region, and contribute to the understanding of Best Practices Models for an inclusivity plan. The evaluation provided key informants’ perspectives on how effective the program has been in accomplishing what it intended to do. Results of this evaluation will be discussed.
