An Australian Indigenous Youth Audience and the NT Intervention
Abstract
This paper will present some findings from fieldwork and research conducted with some members of an Aboriginal Australian Youth Audience from Central Australia, in response to media representation of the Northern Territory Intervention in 2007. I will discuss mediated ‘images’ of law, traditional lore and the landscape or space within which this conversation or narrative has been presented, and present how members of a young Aboriginal audience perceive these images in relation to notions of identity, citizenry and Australian-ness.
