Altered Book Journaling for the Visual Generation
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how different types of journal writing such as altered bookmaking can be an effective learning tool for the 21st century visual generation. This article examines how new types of reflective journal writing can foster enthusiasm and motivation in students through a more innovative and creative approach as evidenced through a college course for the past four years. This article discusses the development of this newer method, “altered book journal writing,” the processes involved in using this method, its applications in a course, and the resulting outcomes.
