Abstract

This article discusses differences between adult learners and traditional learners and adjustments that educators need to consider in order to meet the varying needs and expectations of this growing student population. Pros and cons of e-learning for adult learners are addressed including how instructors can structure their delivery styles and teaching philosophies to accommodate the needs and expectations of adult learners. Various teaching methods and instructional design strategies are discussed and evaluated relative to their impact on the success of adult learners.
