Abstract

This article examines how the attitude and behavioral pattern in work and geographical mobility of the Generation Y are suitable for the working demands of the current global working environment. We define Generation Y as the demographic cohort from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. People who belong to the Generation Y in mainland China and the Hong Kong SAR were selected as samples. 40 samples from Harbin, Nanjing, Beijing and the Hong Kong SAR were selected by the “snowball sampling method” for in-depth interviews. The findings provide a glimpse on reasons for work and geographical mobility, their encounters in work, and how their attitude and behavior patterns in geographical mobility influence their prospect and life.
