Health Communication is a growing field of communication which attempts to change positively people’s behavior toward their health. Health concerns a person’s body but equally concerns a person’s relationship to other people. Understanding and improving health all depend to some extent on effective health communication. Hence, the design of IEC materials such as posters. Pamphlets should be done by putting into consideration the target audience for effective communication to take place. This is achieved by understanding communication as a powerful process in health care and applying the primary levels of health communication such as intrapersonal health communication, interpersonal health communication, group health communication, organisational health communication and societal health communication. Health communication is an extremely broad research area, examining many different levels and channels of communication in a wide range of social contexts. Furthermore, the proper usage of the principles and elements of design must take its cue while the overall visual content of the materials should be culturally relevant. This paper describes the step - by - step methodology in designing for health communication campaign messages.
