Abstract

The study examined the relationship between resource-use efficiency and secondary school productivity in Ondo State, with a view to determine productivity trends in secondary schools in the state; and also determine the relationship between resource utilization and secondary school productivity. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. Two sets of research instruments were developed and used to collect necessary data. These were secondary school resource Allocation Questionnaire (SSRAQ) and secondary school resource-use Questionnaire (SSRQ). Analysis of data involved the use of Woodhall and Blaug productivity measurement technique (WBPMT) and Spearman’s Rank order correlations Co-efficient. The study found among other things that secondary education in Ondo state was productive with input increase of 23 percent, and output increase ranged between 32percent and 43 percent. There were significant relationships between resource allocation (rs=0.50), personnel utilization (rs = 0.80), space utilization (rs = 0.80), global utilization (rs =0.81) and secondary school productivity in Ondo State.The only exception was time utilization having a negative correlation(rs = -0.50) with secondary school productivity in the state. On the basis of the findings of the study some recommendations were made with implications for both practice and further study.
