In my group, the main document that we read was "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death". The author of this article, Patrick McHenry used rhetoric to persuade his audience to understand the oppressive conditions that the colonists have been put under by the British rule. One quotation that exemplifies this purpose is, "Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult;our supllications have been disregarded"(McHenry). Another quote that exemplifies this is, "we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne"(McHenry)
