The Olive Branch Petition was the final attempt to avoid a war between the colonists of America and Britain. The purpose of this petition was to keep the peace between the two of them. The peaceful protests that are taking place in America, regarding equality amongst ethnicity and gender, are non-violent ways to protest against the government. This can relate to the Olive Branch Petition because both this document and the protests are trying to accomplish unity between a government and the people. The present American government ignores the protests taking place and Britain in the 1700s rejected the petition. The grievances that have transcended over time would include the government, specifically the police force, using physical violence against people in these protests.
