Common sense was when Thomas Paine wrote the article to chnage the American outlook toward the war. He wanted to turn the anger away from the Americans, from the specific parliamentary measures they were resisting. This has influenced us today because of the different types of leaders and rulers we have today. Each ruler/leader is different and have different set of rules to follow.
