Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was one of the causes for the war. It imposed a direct tax on the colonies, requiring that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamp paper. The colonists believed it violated their right as English Citizens and it was unfair because they were making the Americans pay for the debts of the war. The new government will impose equal taxes on everybody.
I agree with your ideas about the Stamp act as it imposed a direct tax on the colonies. I think it was unfair for the colonists because, it did violate their rights as citizens. Why do you think they required that printed things had stamp paper? Do you think it was because it was the best way to pay the war debts or was there other solutions?
