The Tea Act
The colonists were concerned about the taxation on tea becasue tea was the everyday drink every person drank during that time. Many colonists thought it was outrageous for them to pay more on tea. So, colonists went on the shipments of tea, and threw 300 boxes of tea into the water. I think the formation of a new American government might address such an issue, becasue colonists are used to paying one amount of money towards a drink. But now that the price is increasing, they think it is not right.
@Jenni what does equal taxation look like? In our society now, taxation is tiered based on income. Is this fair? Is this equal? Is there a difference?
I agree with your ideas on why individuals would be angry with the taxation on tea during this time. I also believe that a new government would impose equal taxes on every individual so that there would be fairness and no discrimination against anybody. Do you think that there maybe could have been another reason on why the colonists threw 300 crates over sea?
