e-Learning Ecologies MOOC’s Updates

What is educational blogging?

There are a lot of opportunities to have different blogs for teachers. It all depends on your goals and objectives. Being a university professor, you can create an online teacher's journal or a diary of events of your student’s group or faculty as a blog. The only requirement for all types of blogs is regular updating of its content. It is necessary regularly add records, images or multimedia materials intended for use in educational and upbringing activities.

First of all, in order to create and maintain a blog in an educational organization, you need a certain logistical base; every day you need to think about a long-term strategy for integrating the blog into the educational activities; you need to motivate students to learn a new and unfamiliar type of work, the work of students in blogs is difficult to assess by the existing point methodology; you need to be prepared that working with a blog takes a lot of time.

I maintain a Subject Teacher Blog, although one could go from a school class blog to a school newspaper. My blog contains lesson plans and materials, brief notes, student assignments, useful links, additional information for students, instructional videos, useful modern gadgets, and a feedback form. As I wrote before, to create my educational blog, I first of all determined for myself the goals and objectives, type, target audience, name and address of the blog (from my experience I will say that it should not be big), chose a platform. After the planning stage, I moved on to the technical realization of the creation plan.

In order to create a blog I recommend choosing the platforms wordpress.com, blogger.com, wix.com, where you just need to register, choose a template and design, at your discretion, on which you can choose the placement of blog elements, colors, fonts and many different deals. With the help of these platforms, you can create your blog without resorting to programming, and without having to worry about installing and customizing the software.

When running your blog, when publishing posts, I recommend that you

always ask yourself why I'm creating it, why it will be of interest to my students. If you have a lot of photos (e.g., you want to publish a photo report of an event), put a few photos in the post itself and link the rest to a photo album on another resource.
