While this seems like it should be the simplest part of the course since the questions are about myself and my everyday life, it really is quite the opposite. It can be very difficult to sort of look at yourself from someone else perspective, be honest, and write down what my online behavior says about myself. So here goes nothing…

I would say that for the most part, I do let my real personality show through on my online profiles. If anything, I may try to hide some of my quirky personality here and there, but I am mostly only online friends with people who know me in person, so they know I have little quirks anyway. I definitely have never been a troll of any shape or form on the internet, I quite honestly didn’t even know the true definition of a troll until I took this class, believe it or not. Basing my judgment off of online profiles, I would hire somebody like me because I not only pay careful attention to things that I post but also things that I repost follow, and even “like”. While it is a hot topic, I don’t even post or respond to political posts online. The only thing I would like to work on changing is “cleaning up” my Facebook friends list. There are some people on there that I don’t know very much about so why are we “friends”, for me it’s a security issue. It makes it very easy for people I don’t necessarily know very well to access my information and while I know they still can if we aren’t “friends”, I would at least like to make it a little more difficult for them. I would say that on occasion my online life can get in the way of my offline life, sometimes I can’t help but check my Facebook or Snapchat notifications when I’m out with friends. I also think that it enhances my offline life as well however by helping me connect with other people. The only ethical issues I can think of are being friends with some people online that I don’t know very well which creates the privacy and security problems I mentioned earlier. I will now be going through my Facebook and likely deleting many of these people.
