When looking at my online behavior, I seem to use social media and Netflix a lot. I constantly check social media outlets like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter throughout the day. I definitely let my personality show through my twitter account but I am a little bit more conservative when it comes to my Facebook and Instagram account. I believe this is because I have family members whom follow me on Instagram and I have family who are friends on Facebook. On the other- hand I let my personality show on Twitter more and you can really see my personality through my tweets and retweets. I don’t think that I pretend to be anyone else online but I do not post certain things because of the fear of judgement from my family members and family friends. I think that it is important to not post certain things online because of future career opportunities. Future jobs will look at your Facebook and will judge you based on what you post. They may not give you the job if they see things they do not like on your Facebook. I think that someone like me would have the opportunity of getting hired, after the employer looked at my online presence. Though I have posted some things that I do regret, I believe I have filtered myself enough on social media that is good enough to get hired. Some areas that I can improve on is my twitter account, I am a bit less cautious when it comes to posting on there because I feel like twitter is a website that people use to express what they are thinking freely.

I do sometimes think that my online life is getting in the way of my offline life. I feel that I am constantly checking my social media throughout the day. We are living in a time where people would rather be on their phones than have a real- life conversation. I have definitely have experienced this in my personal life when hanging out with friends. Sometimes we get distracted by our phones and we will all be on them and not have a conversation with each other. I have also seen a number of questionable ethical actions throughout my use of social media. I have seen racism, sexism, and trolls throughout the social media outlets I have used. I try and ignore some of the rude comments I have seen because I do not want to get involved. This action of mine could be seen as a question of my ethics, but I feel that if I were to converse with the internet troll is would just make the situation worse. This course has taught me how to use some ethical theories to change my online presence when I see something unethical.
