Negotiating Learner Differences MOOC’s Updates

Complexities and Contradictions of one demographic grouping in education

The demographic character such as income, culture, family traditions, parent's status, caste, ethnicity and race are affecting heaviely on students progress. The case of Asian American is same. In Dr. Yoon parks explanation citing the case of Mamie tape that the race based discrimination is observed even in the processs of admission in schools. Different barriers are imposed to the Asian American students such as vaccination. In connection to Asian American the intresting idea in Dr. Yoon Park's lecture is that there are 40 different Asian-american ethnic groups. The notion of 'forever forigner' and 'honorary whites' are explaining themselves about the race based discrimination existing in united states.

Also, Alyssa VanderStel (2014) argue that demographics are not only affecting education but also the better knowledge of demographics can be utilized to benefit the student. A student’s culture and her/ his family ties will be the factors that impact the way s/hewill learn.
