Aspect: One aspect of Big Data is the amount of data you can recieve in education with technology. 

How does it work: Allowing students to use different educational technology platforms to learn helps to increase the amount of participation you can recieve from your students. You no longer are limited by the amount of students that can fit in a building but now student's from all over the world can participate when technology is used. 

What are the effects: With more students participating in a course/class you have a greater sample size/ greater amount of data that can be used to gain information. This data can help improve the learning material so that students can learn better in the classroom.
