The Stamp Act
During the Stamp Act, the parliament tried to raise money from direct taxes. All printed documents required a stamp. The colonists were very upset becasue they had to pay more money for stamps. The Stamp Act offended "every free colonist. This ignited the first major split between colonists and Great Britain over the meaning of freedom."
Hey Jesse how did the stamp act offend colonists, this sounds to much like the reading , but I agree with all that was said. How did the colonies split? one question I asked myself was if most of the colonists were poor how would they have enough money to break off from Britain's economy ?
