I was graduated from a Master of Arts program of comparative humanities at Brandeis University this May, and am an independent researcher now. My master thesis is to read the presentation of violence in Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom, interpret the imagery extremity as violence of sensation instead of violence of representation, and analyze how such depiction of violence is both formally and thematically relevant to Marquis de Sade's philosophy. My interests mainly concentrate on affect studies in cinema, especially Chinese cinema, focusing on violence, extremity, horror, etc.
