Dr Victor Zheng is currently Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (HKIAPS), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK); Coordinator of Global China Research Programme; Coordinator of Telephone Survey Research Laboratory, HKIAPS; Co-Director of Centre for Social and Political Development Studies, HKIAPS, CUHK.
Dr Zheng’s key research interests are: (1) Chinese family business. This includes entrepreneurship, inheritance and succession, business culture and commercial history, stock market and financial development, and family trust and philanthropy. (2) Social indicators and social development. This includes opinion survey, public policy, social transformation, and regional development. (3) Global China studies. This includes China’s soft power, Belt and Road Initiative and regional integration, and oversea Chinese diaspora.
Dr Zheng has published widely in international journals and also authored or co-authored a number of books such Chinese Family Business and the Equal Inheritance System: Unravelling the Myth, (London and New York: Routledge, 2010), Grand Old Man of Hong Kong: Sir Shouson Chow (Hong Kong: Centre of Asian Studies, 2010), Gambling Dynamism: The Macao Miracle, (Heidelberg: Springer, 2013). He has also written and edited a number of books and journal papers in both English and Chinese languages. Dr Zheng is a Member of History Sub-committee, Museum of Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong SAR Government. He also serves as an editorial member of Hong Kong Journal of Social Sciences and the Twentieth-First Century bimonthly.
