I am a doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, department of social sciences. I work under the supervision of professor Barry Gills and professor Anja Nygren. My research project examines the growing connection between the state of Israel and Silicon Valley based "knowledge economy". Particularly, I am studying how the figure of the "other" is becoming re-imagined as the imaginairies of Zionism, Palestinian nationalism and knowledge economy intersect and collide between Silicon Valley and the high-tech sites in Israel. The theoretical purpose of my research is to strenthen the understanding of the "subjective" dimensions of globalization. Particularly I am bringing together Jungian insights (key concepts of "imagination", "archetypes" and "myth") and the deconstructive studies of globalization. My reserach project aims at 1) building a new bridge between subjective and objective approaches to studying the global transformations 2) examining Israel/Palestine conflict from a marginalized, "global", perspective. The PhD project continues my MA thesis labelled: "I, Post-Palestinian entrepreneur - the transformations of subalternity in the start-up nation of Israel" that was awarded as the best thesis of Development studies in Finland in 2017. Prior to the PhD project I founded a think tank called Avanto Helsinki and worked as principal consultant in Demos Helsinki, that is the largest independent think tank in Scandincavia.
