Noelia Santos is a filmmaker and educator in film, photography, and visual communication, based in Morocco. She teaches at Al Akhawayn University, where she has been instrumental in developing the film program within Communication Studies in the School of Humanities & Social Sciences, along with the national juried Al Akhawayn Short Film Festival, and several inter-institutional filmmaking workshops in partnership with national and international schools. Her recent documentary, Tempo Rubato, about a New York jazz composer whose work is inspired by Afro-Colombian folkloric music and dedicated to victims of the Colombian conflict, has been screened at numerous international festivals including the Copenhagen Jazz Film Festival, Festival Colores Amsterdam, Bogota Music Video Festival, Cinefestival Texas, and the New York Jazz Film Festival. Noelia has been an artist-in-residence at Joya Arte & Ecologia (Spain) and the Madrono Ranch Center for Writing, Art, and the Environment (Texas). She has directed, edited and produced numerous video projects for the Guggenheim Museum, Rubin Museum of Art, Cornell University, and others. She holds a Masters degree in Media Studies from The New School.
