Update 2: E-Learning Is Everywhere

The Maragon school is a great example of a school utilizing E-learning to bring the world to its students. The students themselves highlight those areas that make their learning experience more enjoyable.

I began teaching 18 years ago and never could have imagined technology playing such an integral role in my students’ education. As time progressed, it was only natural that E-learning would become common practice among schools that had the support system to effectively participate in such activities. While some may argue that E-learning does not provide students with the same hands-on opportunities as those within a classroom, others are quick to point out that without E-learning many students would have little exposure to what goes on outside the classroom.

With the right technological tools put into place, E-learning does not discriminate and provides students with opportunities that go way beyond anything that existed 20 years ago. E-learning adjusts the teaching style that takes place within the classroom and allows for the teacher to become a facilitator that is able to step back and watch the students collaborate with each other as well as those online. Depending on the subject or content, lessons come to life and students become so immersed they forget they are in a classroom. Many of the activities require students to work together to problem solve or critically think. Many students appreciate the extended reach E-learning offers because it gives them an avenue to explore the world and expose themselves to life beyond their own little bubble. E-learning also presents an element of time management because it is live and requires students to be in the here and now.

I have had the opportunity to utilize E-learning for quite some time now in furthering my own education. Without this method of learning, I would not have been able to achieve what I have today. As an educator, I will never view E-learning as a replacement for the lessons and interaction that takes place in the classroom, but I think it is a must-have component that all schools should utilize in an effort to enhance their curriculum and give students the skills needed to move forward in life. The use of technology is here to stay and it is only going to continue to dominate our daily activities.
