    • PhD
    • January 2013 to December 2015

My PhD focused on ‘the transformative potential of cities’, from the vantage points of livelihoods and southern urbanism. It examined the ways in which ordinary people use the city’s resources to reshape their lives: a. how they use social payments, basic municipal services, and other resources of the city to build livelihoods and to use such livelihood assets to pursue other aspirations; and b. how the state’s socio-spatial interventions facilitate and/or hinder their livelihood activities.
