The Modern Order

The principle of "order" is a notion that has mainstreamed the human history, serving as a sculptor of its culture, managing to harmonize the world through the architecture.

This research focuses on demonstrating how Mies van der Rohe uses this principle to order the "world" of the twentieth century through the architectural project. The analysis is directed towards the conception, design and construction of the "Art Gallery of the XX Century", after so-called "New National Gallery of Berlin". The investigation explores how Mies achieve to give "order" its architecture, through the operation, of a series of metaphysical notions -ethics, universality and abstraction- transformed into solutions or architectural and constructive processes.
