  Hello! I am April and I am a US Navy veteran of the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. I deployed to the Gulf aboard an aircraft carrier as a Navy Intelligence Analyst in June 2004. My time in the military inspired me to earn my BA in International Studies focusing on Politial Science and Social Movements. My experience in undergraduate work opened my perspectives to How people are affected by war around the world, and how resistance is born from those most affected. I was encouraged to pursue a graduate degree to further study my interests in militarism and militarization through a critical sociology program. I hope to continue my education into a PhD and further explore war, militarism, and militarization.
