Hello! My name is Kelsey and I have spent the last 6 months transitioning from a classroom teacher (6 years) to a grade level and building level interventionist. I am responsible for tier 2 interventions--both behavior and academics. I am also starting at a new building that does not have a lot of systems in place to support this position. I have spent a lot of the school year doing my own independent research to provide interventions that best support my students. Our district has provided some training, but I find myself with more questions than answers. I focused on behavior analysis and functions of behavior for the first semester of the school year. I knew that trying to implement academic interventions when behaviors were still a concern would not be successul. Now that my students have felt some success with those interventions, I am shifting my focus to academics, specifically literacy, with a big sense of urgency. I am hoping to use this community to continue my learning and understanding in how to best serve my students.
