New approaches and specialties of Masaryk University

Masaryk University in Brno offers many interesting new humanities .

Masaryk University is distinguished by the fact that it conducts a single entrance examination, which is accepted by all faculties (except for the medical one). This exam is called the TSP - Test for Learning Prerequisites. It can be called an analogue of OSP SCIO, but it is developed and conducted by Masaryk University itself.

What is TSP?

The TSP can only be taken once (it takes place at the end of April).

The TSP test consists of 60 questions, divided into 6 tests. Verbal abilities, critical, analytical, logical, spatial thinking, general knowledge in the field of culture are tested. In the test that checks critical thinking, 6 questions are asked in a foreign language (you can choose English, German, Spanish or French).

The criterion for the success of the test, as in the case of the SCIO tests, is the percentile (the percentage of applicants who scored less or the same number of points).

How to prepare? There is no preparation literature. You just have to work through the tests of the past and train.

Masaryk University has faculties similar to those of Charles University with humanitarian specialties: the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Social Research, the Faculty of Education.

At the Faculty of Social Research at Masaryk University, one can study, for example, environmental studies, media studies, international relations, psychology, social policy and human resources. Upon admission, in addition to the prerequisite test, one must pass the National Comparative Examination in Fundamentals of Social Sciences (ZSV SCIO).

What is ZSV SCIO?

The Social Science Foundation test consists of 60 questions and is divided into 3 parts: man and society (psychology, sociology, philosophy), state and law (political science and law), economics and peace (economics, European integration and modern history from 1848 to today with an emphasis on Czech and world history in the context of international relations).

The exam can be taken 6 times a year, the faculty will accept the best result.
