Andrea Groves Hoff is a PhD Candidate at the University of California, Irvine. She has over ten years of urban planning experience in nonprofit, municipal, and regional organizations in the U.S. and Mexico. Her overall research goals are to 1) help bridge the gap between urban planning practice and the needs and desires of local communities, and 2) enhace quality of life and health of communitites through promoting culturally sensitive and sustainable urban design. In order to meet these goals she is currently focusing on understanding community social capital formation and participation in the planning process, local/indigenous enviornmental psychology, historic preservation, and regulation of sustainable urban design principles.
